The GAME4CHANGE – Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education Erasmus+ project was presented by Professor Bogdana Nosova from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv during the IV Scientific and Practical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists “Contemporary Mass Communication Space: History, Realities, Prospects”, held at Sumy State University (Ukraine) on May 22–23, 2025 in online format.

As part of the conference programme, Professor Nosova delivered a presentation titled “Environmental Journalism in the Context of War and Global Challenges: Education and International Cooperation.” Her research explored how environmental journalism is evolving under the pressures of war and global ecological challenges, highlighting the need for innovative teaching approaches and stronger international collaboration.

Within this context, the GAME4CHANGE project was introduced as an example of a forward-looking educational initiative. The project focuses on integrating serious games and gamification strategies into higher education to enhance climate change education and to better equip students with practical, engaging, and digitally relevant learning experiences.

Professor Nosova also emphasized the long-standing experience of environmental journalism education at the Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where climate communication and sustainability-related topics have been embedded in curricula for many years. Initiatives such as the “Green Institute of Journalism” and university-led environmental activities further demonstrate the integration of ecological awareness into academic practice.

The GAME4CHANGE Erasmus+ project contributes to these efforts by supporting the development of innovative educational tools, including digital resources and interactive learning formats, aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of climate change and environmental communication.

The annual conference, organized by Sumy State University, serves as a platform for young researchers, academics, and media scholars to present and publish their work within the broader research framework of contemporary mass communication studies.
