GAME4CHANGE Focus Groups at Harokopio University
Highlight Innovative Approaches to Climate Education

As part of the Erasmus+ project GAME4CHANGE – Digital Educational Games for Climate Change, a series of focus groups was held at Harokopio University of Athens (Greece), bringing together stakeholders from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.

The sessions provided a valuable platform for participants to share insights and practical experiences, contributing to the development and evaluation of the project’s digital educational games aimed at enhancing climate change education in higher education.

A central theme of the discussions was how to effectively train students on environmental and climate-related issues. Participants highlighted the importance of linking theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, emphasizing that students need to clearly understand the environmental consequences of human activities in order to develop a stronger sense of responsibility and awareness.

The focus groups also underlined the need to move beyond traditional lecture-based teaching toward more interactive and experiential learning approaches. Participants strongly supported the integration of hands-on activities, including learning in outdoor environments and engagement with environmentally oriented businesses such as recycling facilities and sustainable development companies.

These insights will play a key role in shaping the GAME4CHANGE project’s innovative educational tools, ensuring they are both engaging and effective in fostering environmental awareness and active learning among students.
