Kallithea, February 25, 2026 – Within the framework of the flagship initiative #ChooseHarokopio2026, Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) is currently hosting over 1,000 secondary education students from 25 schools across the country. This initiative, celebrating 22 years of consistent presence, serves as a vital bridge between secondary education and the academic world, offering students professional guidance and a firsthand look at university life.

A central feature of this year’s event is the Sustainable Development Workshop, where students explore the challenges of the climate crisis through the innovative lens of technology and ethics. The two-day event saw significant engagement, with a total of 174 students participating from eight different classes representing schools from throughout the Attica region.

Extensive Overview of GAME4CHANGE

During the sessions, an extensive overview of the Erasmus+ project GAME4CHANGE was presented to the participants. The team demonstrated how Digital Serious Games and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being transformed into powerful tools for environmental awareness and social impact. Students were introduced to the scientific methodologies of the project, highlighting how play-based learning can provide real-world environmental solutions.

The workshop went beyond theoretical presentation, engaging students in a hands-on digital serious games simulation. Participants had the opportunity to:

• Identify their unique “Change-Maker” profiles (Technological Optimism, Environmental Ethics, or Strategic Activism).
• Experiment with game mechanics designed to promote sustainability.
• Collaborate on conceptualizing digital applications aimed at mobilizing local communities for climate action.

“The enthusiasm of the students confirms that technology, when aligned with a higher purpose, can inspire the younger generation to become catalysts for a sustainable future,” stated the Harokopio University project representatives.

The success of the event is attributed to the coordinated efforts of the University’s faculty, researchers, and the volunteers, who guided prospective students through the institution’s state-of-the-art facilities with professionalism and dedication.
