GAME4CHANGE Research Presented at
the 3rd Open-Air Cities International Conference in Athens

The Erasmus+ GAME4CHANGE partnership successfully presented the project’s research findings during the special session “Virtual Cities and Social Sustainability in the EU Framework” at the 3rd Open-Air Cities International Conference, organized by Harokopio University of Athens, Greece.

The presentations showcased data collected from focus groups and online surveys conducted across six European countries – Portugal, Greece, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Ukraine – highlighting key insights into the integration of gamification strategies within higher education. The findings underline the growing importance of innovative, interactive approaches in addressing climate change education.

GAME4CHANGE leverages the potential of serious games – digital tools designed for educational purposes – to enhance environmental learning and raise awareness of climate-related challenges among students.

The GAME4CHANGE Erasmus+ project was represented through two scientific contributions included in the conference Book of Abstracts. The first, “Erasmus+ GREENO2 and GAME4CHANGE Projects: Social Sustainability, Communication, and a Sociological Perspective”, explored the broader social and communicative dimensions of sustainability. The second, “Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education: Research Data and Findings”, focused specifically on the project’s research outcomes and methodological approaches.

The conference, held on December 5–7, 2025, brought together researchers and practitioners to discuss sustainable urban development and innovative solutions for environmental and social challenges, providing an important platform for the dissemination of GAME4CHANGE – Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education Erasmus+ project results.
