GAME4CHANGE Multiplier Event in Poland:
Sustainable Development through Higher Education
On 17 September 2026, a Multiplier Event of the Erasmus+ GAME4CHANGE – Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education project was held in Poland as part of the 5th Congress of European Studies, hosted by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
During the event, Prof. Anna Sakson-Boulet delivered a presentation entitled “Environmental education as the basis for implementing the concept of sustainable development in the EU – conclusions from the GAME4CHANGE project: Digital Serious Games for Climate Change Education.” The presentation addressed the question of whether the education system in Poland fosters pro-environmental attitudes and develops a sense of responsibility for the environment. The discussion examined barriers to climate education in primary and secondary schools and subsequently focused on climate education at the university level. Research conducted within the GAME4CHANGE project provided a basis for discussing the potential of serious games as innovative tools for teaching and climate education in higher education institutions in Poland.
The Multiplier Event brought together members of the academic and professional communities, researchers, educators and other stakeholders interested in sustainable development, environmental education and innovative approaches to higher education. It provided an opportunity to exchange views on current challenges in climate education and to explore how digital serious games can support more engaging, interactive and effective learning.
The 5th Congress of European Studies was organised at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań on 16–18 September 2026, under the main theme “Europe at a Turning Point.” The GAME4CHANGE Multiplier Event and the presentation of the project research findings took place within the panel “The Role of the European Union in Implementing the Concept of Sustainable Development.”
The event contributed to the dissemination of GAME4CHANGE research and strengthened dialogue among academics, educators and other stakeholders on the role of innovative digital tools in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable development through higher education.
